What You Don't See Before Shabbat

“Being involved in RLT has completely transformed my perception of what it means to live a Jewish life. While our group’s main focus is planning weekly Friday Shabbat services and dinner for the campus community, we try to make the takeaways from Shabbat last all week long because Judaism isn’t going to Hillel on Fridays; it’s an identity and a way of life. Through discussion and the communal dinner experiences, our hope is that everyone--regardless of ethnic background, belief in God, or past Jewish experiences--knows that they have a place not only at our table, but also in the Jewish community. Recently, inclusion and social justice themes have been employed to reinforce this sentiment.” --Carolyn Brodie, President of Ritual Life Team
